Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, and under the slogan “Start with a Step Toward a Better Environment… It Begins with You,” the Psychological Counseling Unit and the Special Needs Unit organized an environmental activity in conjunction with the Sustainable University Week events.
The activity involved planting and nurturing seeds of various plant species, with the participation of the Dean, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and a large number of faculty and staff members as well as students. The event was conducted in an atmosphere that reflected the values of cooperation, collective responsibility, and community engagement.
The initiative aimed to enhance environmental awareness among students, foster a sense of responsibility toward nature, and support psychological well-being through participation in interactive agricultural activities that help alleviate stress and promotea positive attitudes. The activity also sought to encourage environmentally responsible behavior and strengthen participants’ connection with their surrounding environment.
As part of the program, participants received a simplified introduction to seed-planting techniques, methods of plant care, and the significance of vegetation in improving air quality and reducing environmental pollution. The activity further highlighted the important role of green spaces in maintaining ecological balance and creating a healthier university environment.
This initiative is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13: Climate Action, by promoting environmental awareness, encouraging sustainable practices, and fostering active participation in efforts aimed at protecting the environment and addressing climate-related challenges.
