Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the University Psychological Guidance Unit, in collaboration with the Special Needs Unit, organized an awareness lecture entitled “30 Minutes Toward Inner Balance.” The lecture was presented by Ms. Hiba Ali Karim and Ms. Duha Ali Abdul, with the aim of enhancing students’ psychological awareness and assisting them in coping with daily stressors and achieving inner balance.
The lecture began with an introductory overview of the concept of mental health and its significance in an individual’s life, while highlighting key approaches that contribute to achieving psychological equilibrium and adapting to various life challenges. The presenters emphasized the importance of emotional awareness and the proper management of feelings, noting its positive impact on academic performance and daily functioning.
The lecture also included interactive segments designed to actively engage students. A question-and-answer session was held to open discussion on the psychological pressures they may encounter. In addition, an activity titled “One Step Forward, One Step Back” was conducted, in which selected students responded to prompts reflecting states of psychological stress and comfort; students stepped back when experiencing pressure and stepped forward when feeling relief. This exercise provided a simple yet effective means of assessing levels of psychological balance in an interactive manner.
The lecture concluded by emphasizing the importance of strengthening students’ mental health and adopting practical strategies to reduce daily stressors, thereby contributing to the achievement of inner balance and supporting both their academic and personal development.
