Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Physics, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Scientific Research: From Foundations to Outcomes.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Thamer Abdul Amir Hassan from the College of Science (Coeducational), Department of Physics, University of Baghdad, and Dr. Haider Yahya Hammoud, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim.

The workshop addressed the methodological foundations of scientific research, beginning with the identification of a research problem and the precise formulation of research hypotheses. It further explored the selection of appropriate scientific methodologies, the use of quantitative and qualitative data collection tools, and the mechanisms for analyzing data through suitable statistical techniques. The workshop also discussed the interpretation of research findings and their integration with theoretical frameworks and previous studies to ensure meaningful and scientifically sound conclusions.

In addition, the workshop highlighted the importance of adhering to research ethics and upholding the principles of academic integrity in citation and documentation practices. Particular attention was given to common errors frequently encountered by researchers and the strategies that can be employed to avoid them.

The workshop further focused on developing students’ and researchers’ skills in academic writing, preparing comprehensive research proposals, and presenting and discussing research findings in a systematic and scholarly manner. These competencies are essential for producing accurate, reliable, and high-quality scientific outcomes.

The event witnessed active engagement from participants through questions, discussions, and scientific contributions that enriched the workshop’s themes and broadened the scope of academic dialogue. The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuously developing students’ and researchers’ competencies in scientific research, given their significant role in advancing scientific inquiry and enhancing the quality and impact of academic studies.
