Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, and in cooperation with the Scientific Affairs Division, the Department of Computer Science organized the activities of “Sustainable University Week” during the month of April. The event was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, the Head of the Department of Computer Science, a distinguished group of faculty members from various scientific departments, and representatives of governmental institutions. The initiative reflected a collaborative effort aimed at harnessing Iraq’s available environmental resources and developing effective scientific solutions to contemporary challenges.

The activities featured a diverse range of scientific and awareness-oriented programs that highlighted the pivotal role of technology in achieving sustainability and enhancing the efficiency of governmental institutions. Particular emphasis was placed on promoting digital transformation and adopting smart solutions for resource management. Participants also discussed key themes linking modern technologies with the requirements of sustainable development, while underscoring the role of software applications in supporting the green economy and optimizing resource utilization in alignment with national strategic directions.

In a related context, the participating delegation emphasized the importance of employing digital systems to improve institutional performance and advance organizational development. They also commended academic initiatives that contribute effectively to supporting sustainability efforts at the national level.

Held under the slogan “Our Programming is Hope, and Our Sustainability is Action,” these activities reflect the College’s ongoing commitment to promoting the principles of sustainability and strengthening partnerships among academic institutions, governmental bodies, and the private sector. Such initiatives contribute significantly to advancing the objectives of sustainable development and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and environmental responsibility.
