Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Continuing Education Unit held a workshop entitled “Writing a Curriculum Vitae for Job Applicants among Female Graduates.” The workshop was organized by Dr. Sanaa Tarek Sarhan, Dr. Enas Abdul Hussein, and Dr. Inaam Fadel Musa, and was attended by a number of the college’s staff members.
The primary objective of the workshop was to emphasize the importance of preparing female graduates to write a strong, professional, and impactful CV.
The workshop also highlighted the significance of presenting skills and experiences effectively and providing a clear and concise CV for job applications, while avoiding common mistakes that could negatively impact employment opportunities.
The workshop covered several key topics. The first segment focused on the steps for preparing a CV using structured planning and organization. This included personal information such as full name, phone number, and email address; a clear and concise career objective that reflects ambition; academic qualifications presented in reverse chronological order, including the name of the institution, date, and field of study; scientific experience; skills; languages; and other relevant academic and professional credentials.
The second segment provided tips for creating an interactive CV presentation using PowerPoint. This included guidance on design and formatting—ensuring color and font consistency, maintaining simplicity and clarity, and delivering meaningful content that is easy to read and understand. The use of topic-related images was also encouraged to enhance the visual appeal and effectiveness of the content.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the importance of writing a well-crafted CV for graduating students was reaffirmed, as a critical step towards securing employment opportunities.
