Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit held a training course entitled “Environmental Pollution.” The course was presented by Dr. Rowaida Tareq Mahdi,Ms. Sela Sami Hamza, and Ms. Shaimaa Ibrahim Mahmoud, and took place in Dr. Amina Hall within the Department of Physics. It was attended by a number of faculty members, college staff, and students from the department.

The course aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of pollution, particularly air pollution, and its impact on human health and the environment. It also highlighted modern technologies that contribute to mitigating pollution and stressed the importance of collective efforts in addressing this issue through the implementation of educational programs and comprehensive awareness campaigns.

Participants were introduced to the causes of pollution, both natural and anthropogenic, such as emissions from vehicles and other factors like the reduction of vegetative cover. The course also clarified the various harms caused by pollution, including increased acid rain, ozone layer depletion, and global warming. Moreover, it addressed different types of pollution, including air, water, noise, and light pollution.
