Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, and in the presence Dr. Nadia Mohammed Jawad, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and Assistant Professor Dr. Salah Khairy Jaber, Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, the Scientific Affairs Division, in collaboration with the Popular Mobilization Commission, organized a specialized seminar entitled “The Role of Women in Wars: Social and Psychological Impacts.”

The seminar was presented by Dr. Hussein Al-Bakhati, Director General of the Directorate of Education at the Popular Mobilization Commission; Engineer Mohammed Makki Al-Issa, Head of the Cultural Department at Al-Khilani Cultural and Social Foundation; and Lecturer Dr. Abbas Hadi Al-Aqabi.

The seminar examined the multifaceted role of women during times of war and the social and psychological challenges they encounter. It emphasized women’s significant contributions to supporting their communities and strengthening societal resilience during periods of conflict. The discussions also highlighted the economic role of women in managing household affairs, maintaining family stability, and achieving a balance between domestic responsibilities and broader social and economic demands.

Furthermore, the seminar underscored the importance of women’s educational, scientific, and cultural contributions in fostering informed, resilient, and socially responsible individuals capable of addressing contemporary challenges. Particular attention was given to the role of Iraqi women in promoting national and humanitarian values, while also contributing to family welfare and maintaining a balance between professional and personal responsibilities.

The seminar concluded with an interactive discussion session, during which participants actively engaged through questions, comments, and constructive dialogue, enriching the exchange of knowledge and perspectives on the topic.
