Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, and in the presence of the assistant deans, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Media and Government Communication Division and the Iraqi Workers Union, organized a special celebration on the occasion of International Workers’ Day. The event was supervised by Dr. Jowan Khalid Hamoud, Head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, as an expression of gratitude and appreciation for workers and their vital role in both the college and the university.

The celebration commenced with a welcoming speech addressed to the delegation of the Iraqi Workers Union, represented by Mr. Sattar Danbous Barak, President of the General Federation of Iraqi Trade Unions, along with Mr. Jabbar Tarsh Faris, Mr. Hussein Jassim Al-Mohammed—both members of the Federation’s Executive Office—and Mr. Hussein Jalal Hajim, a media representative of the Federation. The delegation expressed their deep appreciation to the College’s administration and the Counseling Unit for this initiative, which they described as “unique among colleges and universities” for its noble humanitarian values reflecting respect and recognition for a key and influential group within the academic community. In his congratulatory speech, Mr. Sattar praised the perseverance and dedication of workers, referring to them as “people of noble spirit” for their ongoing efforts and commitment to their work.

Following that, the assistant deans, Dr. Adel Hussein Talib and Dr. Yusra Abdul Sahib Saif Al-Din, extended their words of gratitude and appreciation to the college workers. They emphasized the significant and indispensable role these individuals play within the educational institution through their continuous dedication, which contributes to maintaining a safe and well-organized university environment.

The ceremony featured the honoring of all college workers, who were presented with certificates of appreciation and symbolic financial rewards, supported by the Workers Union. This gesture served as a testament to the profound respect and support for this silent yet devoted workforce.

The event concluded in an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie, as participants—including the college staff, workers, and the union delegation—shared a communal lunch. The workers expressed their heartfelt thanks to the College Dean and to Dr. Jowan for this generous initiative, which brought joy to their hearts and reinforced their sense of belonging and appreciation within the college community.
