Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit organized a workshop entitled “The Toxicity of Cosmetics”, presented by Ms. Aya Jumaa Batti,Ms. Lubna Zuhair Mohammed, and Ms. Shireen Saadi Turki.
The workshop aimed to shed light on various aspects of cosmetic ingredients, with a particular focus on substances that may cause toxic effects when used improperly or when the body is exposed to them over extended periods. It addressed the potential health risks associated with several common compounds such as heavy metals, parabens, formaldehyde, and other chemicals used in the production of numerous cosmetic products. Additionally, the workshop reviewed the regulatory and legislative frameworks governing the manufacturing and distribution of these products to ensure consumer safety.
The event was marked by a scientifically engaging atmosphere, providing attendees with the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions on a range of related topics. This interaction contributed to enhancing scientific understanding and raising community awareness about the dangers of the random use of cosmetics and the impact of chemicals on human health and the environment.
