The Department of Biology , in collaboration with the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Science for Women, organized a workshop entitled “Environmental Pollution”, under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim.

The workshop was presented by Dr. Mahmoud Khalil Jaafar from the College of Law, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Redha Hamdan, Head of the Department of Biology , and Dr. Salah Khairi Jabir.

The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the concept of environmental pollution and to shed light on its major sources and negative impacts on public health and biodiversity. It also discussed possible strategies to mitigate this escalating phenomenon.

The workshop featured scientific lectures delivered by specialists in the fields of environment, health, and law. It covered various types of pollution, including air, water, and noise pollution, and their diverse effects on human health and the ecosystem. The speakers also presented field studies addressing the current state of pollution in the local environment.

Additionally, the workshop included interactive discussion sessions in which attendees contributed practical ideas and suggestions aimed at reducing pollution levels and promoting environmental awareness in the community. The organizers emphasized that this workshop is part of a series of awareness initiatives intended to enhance students’ capabilities and connect academic knowledge with real-world application, thereby preparing them for the job market in the fields of environmental science and sustainable development.
