A Workshop on “Green Accounting in Higher Education and Academic Entrepreneurship” Organized by the Continuing Education Unit in Collaboration with the Department of Mathematics Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics, organized a workshop entitled “Green Accounting in Higher Education and Academic Entrepreneurship” at Abdul Hakim Hall. The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members, staff, and students.
The workshop was presented by Ms. Hadeel Hussein Naseef, Ms. Zahraa Amouri Ali, and Dr. Dalia Sami Ali. It addressed several themes related to green accounting and its role in supporting sustainable development concepts within higher education institutions.
The workshop aimed to clarify the concept of green accounting and its significance in promoting sustainable environmental and economic practices. Green accounting was presented as an accounting system concerned with measuring environmental costs, resource consumption, and the impacts resulting from economic activities, thereby achieving a balance between economic profitability, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
The workshop also discussed the role of higher education institutions in achieving sustainability goals through the development of curricula and academic activities that promote environmental awareness. In addition, it introduced the concept of academic entrepreneurship and highlighted its importance in connecting scientific knowledge with practical applications.
The presentations further addressed the importance of applied mathematics in analyzing environmental and economic data and supporting decision-making processes, contributing to the development of scientific solutions for contemporary challenges.
The workshop witnessed active participation from attendees through questions and discussions that enriched the dialogue. Participants emphasized the importance of organizing such scientific activities, which contribute to enhancing academic and environmental awareness and fostering a culture of sustainability within the university community.
