Under the patronage of Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics, organized a workshop titled “How to Search for Research Sources Online.” the workshop was presented by Dr. Jalal Hatim Hussein, Dr. Shereen Ouda Dakhil, and Dr. Asil Hussein Ali.
The workshop aimed to teach researchers and students how to effectively use the internet to search for reliable scientific sources that support their academic research. It provided the necessary tools and techniques for finding scientific articles, recent studies, academic books, and theses, as well as specialized databases in various fields of mathematics.
Participants were introduced to how to use academic search engines such as Google Scholar and PubMed, which contain trustworthy scientific sources. The workshop also discussed effective strategies for selecting appropriate keywords that help expedite the search process and lead to the most relevant sources for the research topic.
The workshop addressed how to classify and evaluate online sources to ensure their quality and reliability, with a focus on the importance of verifying the credibility of websites and scientific articles. Furthermore, it covered how to utilize academic databases such as JSTOR, IEEE Xplore, Springer, and others that provide specialized research articles in mathematics.
The workshop emphasized the importance of accessing key studies and literature reviews that contribute to the development of research ideas. This event provided an important opportunity for students and researchers in the field of mathematics to enhance their research skills and improve their ability to obtain the best sources that support their research in the digital information age.
