A Workshop Organized by the Department of Chemistry
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, organized a workshop titled “How to Organize a Scientific Paper According to the Author Guidelines of Scientific Journals.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Layla Othman Farhan,Dr. Noor Al-Huda Ghazi Mohammad, and Assistant Lecturer Samara Ali Matar.
the workshop aimed to shed light on the method of organizing a scientific paper according to the author guidelines of scientific journals, emphasizing the importance of adhering to each journal’s specific author guidelines to ensure acceptance for publication. These guidelines provide a set of instructions for organizing and formatting the paper in accordance with the journal’s requirements. Additionally, the workshop sought to enhance researchers’ skills in understanding the academic frameworks that govern the research submission process and how to prepare for academic publication in accordance with the guidelines followed by various scientific journals.
The workshop also reviewed the key criteria established by scientific journals for preparing scientific papers and explained the reasons behind these standards. These guidelines are intended to ensure the accuracy and clarity of the conditions and requirements that must be applied. Furthermore, it addressed various aspects related to the content and structure of the paper, including the title, abstract, introduction, and final sections, such as the results and references. The session also covered how to organize the title in a manner consistent with the style of the target journal, ensuring it reflects the paper’s content and captures the attention of editors and reviewers.
Moreover, the workshop discussed how to present a clear and comprehensive abstract, including the study’s objective, methodology, key findings, and potential recommendations, while adhering to the word limit set by the journal.
