Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Sciences for Women , Prof. Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry Sciences, organized a training course entitled (Diagnosis of Organic Compounds Using FTIR Infrared Technique) presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Maha Khdim, Asst. Dr. Amira Hassan, Asst. Hawra Muhammad, Asst. Dr. Marwa Raad.

The course aimed to provide participants with sufficient knowledge on how to use infrared technology as a basic tool in analyzing organic compounds and determining their chemical structures, with a focus on interpreting infrared spectra and how to analyze the absorptions that occur when rays interact with molecules of organic compounds. A detailed explanation was provided on the different functional groups of organic compounds and how to distinguish these groups using FTIR technology, in addition to the importance of this technology in analytical chemistry thanks to its superior ability to provide accurate information about the chemical structure of compounds by analyzing the vibrations that occur in the chemical bonds of the compound
