Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women , Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Student Activities Unit, organized a course entitled (Physical Fitness and Healthy Nutrition) presented by Professor Dr. Abeer Dakhel Hatem in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women , and the sports coach from the Iraqi Football Association, M.r. Mustafa Salam Faraj, M.s. Ghufran Zaid Aziz.
The course aimed to provide a comprehensive set of knowledge and skills that help students adopt a healthy lifestyle, by combining physical activity with healthy nutrition to improve the quality of their daily lives. Performing appropriate exercises to strengthen muscles and increase body flexibility, and doing aerobic exercises, strength exercises, and stretching that aim to improve body flexibility, in addition to paying attention to healthy nutrition, which includes the importance of balanced nutrition and the role of essential nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals in supporting their physical and mental health and choosing foods that support their physical energy and help them maintain their ideal weight. The role of water in improving physical performance, regulating body temperature, and supporting the functions of vital organs was addressed, as well as how healthy nutrition affects mental health, including the effect of food on mood, concentration, and ability to think, in addition to improving sleep and reducing levels of stress and anxiety. The course provided several tips for students on how to choose healthy snacks, organize meal times, and manage physical activity and rest time in line with daily lifestyle
