Under the patronage of the honorable Dean of the College of Science for Women , the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Student Activities Unit, organized the “Andalusian Day” Festival inspired by the magic of Andalusian decoration in all the paintings that depict events in the era of the flourishing of arts and sciences, and included the opening of an artistic mural in the Department of Biology Sciences that represents Baghdad’s heritage and artistic landmarks, and combines modernity with the fragrance of history, to be a living image of Baghdad’s authentic culture.
The opening was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Adel Talib Hussein, the Head of the Artistic Activities Division at the University of Baghdad, Dr. Hakim Jassim, the Head of the Department of Biology Sciences, and a group of faculty members, staff, and students of the college.
On the sidelines of the opening, a display of a group of handicrafts and waste recycling works was held, which reflect the skills and creativity of the college students in achieving the goals of sustainable development, as it included hand-made works such as knitting, embroidery, glass painting, decoration and candle making. These works provided a unique opportunity for the participants to showcase their artistic skills, which varied between traditional crafts and contemporary art. The festival witnessed a great turnout from the attendees who expressed their admiration for the elaborate organization of the event and the displayed arts. They also exchanged opinions on the importance of preserving the cultural and artistic heritage, and stressed the support of activities that contribute to enhancing the skills of students in various artistic and cultural fields.
