Under the patronage of Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Department of Physics, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a workshop titled “Drugs: Their Types, Risks, and Laboratory Detection Methods.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Rasha Majid Abdul Amir, Dr. Shaima Ismail Kazem, and Ms. Zainab Omaran.
The workshop aimed to highlight the various types of drugs that contribute to the spread of numerous health and social problems at both individual and community levels. It also discussed the health risks associated with drug use, particularly its effects on the nervous system and the body in general.
The workshop focused on modern and effective methods for detecting drugs in biological samples, such as urine, blood, and hair samples. It showcased advanced laboratory techniques that help identify drug use and determine the type of drug used. A series of laboratory procedures were presented to enable participants to acquire practical skills in sample analysis and the scientific diagnosis of drug-related cases.
