Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Department of Chemistry Sciences, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence in Chemistry.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Areej Shawkat Hameed, Assistant Professor Dr. Asraa Fadel Askir, and Chemist Hanan Kazem Talal.
The aim of the workshop was to provide a comprehensive explanation of the basic concepts of artificial intelligence and demonstrate its various applications across different industries, with a focus on the role of AI in revolutionizing chemical research, including drug discovery. The workshop also addressed several aspects of using AI in chemistry, emphasizing its use in analyzing large chemical data sets and saving time and effort in laboratory experiments. It was also highlighted how AI contributes to reducing human errors in these experiments, thereby improving results and their quality.
The workshop also discussed how AI significantly contributes to making chemical processes more environmentally friendly by enhancing resource efficiency and reducing waste. The workshop emphasized that artificial intelligence will remain a key driver in advancing scientific and academic development, expanding its scope across various fields, especially as its reliance increases in the future to achieve innovative and advanced results in the field of Chemistry.
