Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Samira Naji Kazem, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a workshop titled “First Aid in Household Accidents,” presented by Assistant Professor Zahra Adel Mohammed, Instructor Iman Adnan Mohammed, and Instructor Sahr Thamer Addai.

The workshop focused on highlighting common household accidents that lead to injuries, which require prompt and effective intervention to minimize damage and preserve the life of the injured. The importance of acquiring first aid skills was emphasized as an essential element that everyone should learn and master.

The workshop covered key household accidents, such as burns, cuts, poisoning from spoiled food or chemicals, choking due to airway blockage or exposure to toxic gases, bone and joint injuries, as well as fainting caused by illnesses, sudden falls, or bleeding.

The workshop also stressed the need to be courageous and composed in such situations, as fear and confusion can worsen the condition. It emphasized that first aid is a crucial step in saving lives, making it necessary for every family member to learn the basics of first aid in preparation to handle any emergency swiftly and safely. This is in line with the goals of sustainable development to ensure a healthy and safe life.
