Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics, organized a workshop entitled “Converting Mathematical Equations and Handwritten Text into Word Documents Using Artificial Intelligence” at Abdul-Hakim Hall, with the attendance of a number of faculty members, staff, and female students.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Tadhammur Arif Ibrahim, Dr. Zainab Anwar Ahmed, and M.s Samah Mohammed Ali. It explored the latest artificial intelligence-based tools and technologies for converting mathematical equations and handwritten text into Microsoft Word documents, thereby facilitating the preparation and editing of scientific documents and research papers.
The workshop aimed to introduce the leading artificial intelligence tools used in this field and compare their capabilities in terms of functionality, ease of use, and accuracy. These tools included Mathpix, Gemini, and Claude. The workshop also demonstrated how these technologies can be employed to process mathematical equations, diagrams, and illustrations and convert them into editable digital formats suitable for integration into academic and scientific documents.
Furthermore, the workshop included practical demonstrations illustrating how these tools can be used to process text and mathematical equations. It highlighted their role in saving time and effort and improving the efficiency of preparing research papers and educational lectures. The workshop also emphasized the importance of supporting faculty members, students, and researchers in adopting modern technologies in academia and keeping pace with the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
This activity was organized in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education; Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; and Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
