It was held in the Guest Hall and attended by a number of faculty members and staff.
The course aimed to introduce the key provisions of the Law of State and Public Sector Employees’ Discipline, with particular emphasis on employees’ duties and the restrictions imposed upon them. This contributes to strengthening professional compliance and promoting the ethical principles of public service.
The course addressed the duties of employees stipulated in Article (4) of the Law, including performing official duties accurately and honestly, adhering to official working hours, refraining from leaving the workplace before the end of working hours, respecting the work environment and supervisors, and carrying out lawful orders issued by the competent authorities.
The course also emphasized the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of official information and documents and refraining from disclosing data related to the institution’s work. In addition, it highlighted the necessity of dealing courteously and respectfully with visitors and responding to their inquiries in a manner that contributes to enhancing the quality of institutional performance.
The course further addressed the prohibitions stipulated in Article (5) of the Law, most notably holding two positions simultaneously, exploiting one’s position for personal gain, disclosing work-related secrets and official documents, violating laws and instructions, being absent from work or leaving the workplace without authorization, as well as damaging public property or using it for personal purposes.
The course also covered disciplinary penalties and their implications for an employee’s professional status in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law. These penalties include reprimand, warning, salary deduction, censure, salary reduction, demotion or reduction in salary, dismissal, and removal from service, with an explanation of the legal and administrative consequences associated with each penalty.
