Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, Dean of the College of Science for Women, the College’s Human Rights Unit organized an awareness-raising exhibition entitled “Mass Graves.” The exhibition aimed to shed light on one of the most significant humanitarian and national issues, commemorate the victims of mass graves, and document the scale of the sacrifices endured by Iraq.
The exhibition was attended by a number of faculty members, staff, and female students. It featured photographs, documents, and archival information portraying the magnitude of the human tragedy resulting from the crimes associated with mass graves. The exhibition served as an occasion for reflection and remembrance of the victims who were unjustly deprived of their lives, while conveying a humanitarian message emphasizing the importance of preserving national memory and ensuring that such crimes are never forgotten.
The Head of the Human Rights Unit, Assistant Lecturer Huda Talib Nasser, explained that organizing the exhibition forms part of the Unit’s efforts to strengthen the College’s academic and awareness-raising role, promote a culture of human rights, and consolidate the values of justice and human dignity within society.
This activity is consistent with Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), particularly through supporting peaceful societies and promoting the protection of human rights.
