On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Atiya Al-Zughbi, extended his congratulations to the Deanship of the College of Science for Women, its teaching staff, and its software teams for their exceptional and distinguished participation in the National University Championship for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Applications (NURAI 2026). The College achieved a remarkable presence, with its teams accounting for 12.5% of the total teams participating at the university level. His congratulations and commendation also extended to all participating student teams and supervising staff from the other colleges of the University of Baghdad, wishing all members of the University continued success in leading the technological landscape in Iraq.
During his meeting with the organizing committee, the President of the University reaffirmed his continued support and directed that all obstacles be addressed to ensure the success of the University’s participation in this important national competition. He emphasized that such participation reinforces the University’s firmly established pioneering role at the national level and reflects the considerable talents and substantial capabilities possessed by the University.
The participating teams from the Department of Computer Science at the College received direct support and close follow-up from the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Prof. Dr. Samira Naji Kazem. She personally supervised efforts to overcome technical and administrative challenges and to provide an ideal environment for her students to participate effectively in this major technological event. The Department of Computer Science teams participated under the leadership and supervision of the Head of the Department of Computer Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Mukhtar Mohammed Hassan, and Lecturer Dr. Safaa Sami Abdul Jabbar, Head of the College’s Qualification and Employment Unit.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the members of the university team responsible for supervising the organization of the competition were honored in the designated hall. The President of the University also received in his office the Head of the Department of Computer Science at the College and the College’s representative on the Central Committee, Lecturer Dr. Israa Muayad Abdullah. She was honored separately in the presidential office in the presence of the Head of the Department, as a gesture to make up for the general recognition ceremony and in appreciation of the College Deanship’s supportive and pivotal role in the successful organization of this major scientific and technological event.
