The University of Baghdad Council held its nineteenth session, chaired by the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Al-Zughbi, and attended by the Council members. The session addressed a number of strategic issues concerning the development of the University’s educational, research, and service infrastructure.

The Council approved a project to establish an integrated Medical University City on the University of Baghdad’s land in the Al-Rafeel area of Al-Ameriyah. The proposed city is envisioned as an advanced academic and healthcare center comprising medical colleges, health-related specializations, teaching hospitals, and specialized research and treatment centers. The project is expected to contribute to strengthening the University’s capabilities in medical education, scientific research, and community service.

The Council emphasized that the project represents one of the University’s major strategic initiatives and is aligned with its future plans to develop the medical education environment, support clinical training, and provide integrated infrastructure that contributes to advancing the quality of healthcare and educational services in Iraq.
