Department of Chemistry Organizes a Workshop on Artificial Intelligence Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Biochemistry.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Areej Shawkat Hamid, Ms. Sinaa Aboud Mustafa, and Ms. Mais Mohammed.
The workshop introduced the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) and its contemporary applications in the field of biochemistry, with particular emphasis on its role in analyzing complex biological data, accelerating drug discovery processes, and enhancing the understanding of chemical interactions within living systems with a high degree of accuracy.
The presentations also highlighted the application of machine learning techniques and artificial neural networks in predicting the structures and functions of biomolecules, thereby contributing to the advancement of scientific research and enabling more accurate and efficient outcomes. Furthermore, the workshop addressed the significance of employing these technologies to support laboratory-based studies while reducing the time and effort required for conventional analytical procedures.
The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of developing the skills of students and researchers in the application of artificial intelligence to biochemistry, recognizing its pivotal role in advancing scientific research and enhancing the quality and reliability of scientific studies.
