Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Computer Science, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Cybersecurity.” The workshop was presented by Ms. Suad Ali Ubaid and Dr. Ahmed Abdul-A’imma.
The workshop explored the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in strengthening cybersecurity systems and protecting data against the growing threat of cyberattacks. It highlighted the most significant applications of AI in detecting, analyzing, and predicting cybersecurity threats, including intrusion detection systems and the identification of abnormal patterns within network environments.
The workshop also examined the use of machine learning techniques to enhance the speed and effectiveness of responses to security incidents, thereby reducing potential risks and improving the resilience of digital systems. In addition, participants were introduced to advanced AI-driven approaches for monitoring network activity, identifying vulnerabilities, and supporting proactive cybersecurity measures.
Furthermore, the presenters discussed the challenges associated with the implementation of AI technologies in cybersecurity, emphasizing the importance of their safe, ethical, and responsible use in safeguarding digital infrastructure and sensitive information.
The workshop concluded by stressing the importance of developing the skills and competencies of students and researchers in the fields of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. It also highlighted the role of these emerging technologies in advancing scientific research, fostering innovation, and enhancing the quality of academic and scientific studies.
