Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Kdhim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Computer Science, organized a training course entitled “Fundamentals of Learning Microsoft Excel.” The course was presented by Ms. Nada Khalil Karim, Ms. Maryam Abdul Redha Yousif, and Ms. Sahar Munim Salman in Abdul Hakim Hall, with the attendance of a number of faculty members, staff, and students.
The course aimed to introduce participants to Microsoft Excel, one of the most important software applications developed by Microsoft, which is widely used for data organization, spreadsheet management, and performing various mathematical and statistical calculations with accuracy and efficiency.
The course included a practical overview of the Excel interface and its essential tools, covering topics such as data entry, table formatting, the use of formulas and functions, and the creation of charts for the effective visual presentation of data. In addition, the instructors discussed the program’s applications in academic and administrative fields, highlighting its role in facilitating daily tasks, improving productivity, and supporting data analysis.
The training session featured hands-on exercises that enabled participants to apply the tools and techniques presented during the course. Following the practical component, an interactive discussion session was held, during which the presenters responded to participants’ questions and inquiries.
The course concluded with an emphasis on the importance of acquiring skills in the use of modern computer applications, given their significant role in enhancing both academic performance and professional competence. It is worth noting that this activity contributes to the achievement of two of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 4 – Quality Education, and Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth.
