Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Biology, organized a scientific workshop entitled “The Impact of Climate Change on Plants, Living Organisms, and the Environment.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Nadia Imad Tariq, Dr. Iltefat Fadil Shahadha, and Ms. Zahraa Rafi‘ Taha. It was held on Monday, 30/3/2026, in the College Guest Hall, with the attendance of a number of faculty members, staff, and female students.
The workshop aimed to shed light on the increasing impacts of climate change on various ecosystems and their implications for biodiversity and the sustainability of natural resources, in addition to discussing environmental challenges and strategies to mitigate their adverse effects.
The workshop included a detailed presentation on the effects of climate change on plant growth and agricultural productivity, highlighting the physiological changes that occur in plants as a result of rising temperatures and water scarcity. It also addressed the impact of climate change on living organisms, with particular emphasis on ecological imbalance and the extinction of certain species. Furthermore, the workshop examined the role of human activities in accelerating these changes, alongside proposing sustainable environmental solutions to alleviate their impacts.
The workshop witnessed notable engagement from the attendees, with numerous questions and contributions addressed by the presenters. Emphasis was placed on the importance of enhancing environmental awareness within the academic community and encouraging scientific research in the field of climate change.
