Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Samieera Naji Khdim, the Scientific Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Department of Biology, organized a workshop entitled “Electronic Cigarettes.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Huda Suhail Abd and Dr. Rana Ali Hassan. It was held in the Rehabilitation and Employment Hall, with the attendance of a number of faculty members, staff, and female students of the college.

The workshop aimed to raise health awareness regarding the risks associated with the use of electronic cigarettes and to highlight their negative effects on human health, particularly among young people. It also sought to correct common misconceptions that promote electronic cigarettes as a safe alternative to conventional smoking.

The workshop covered several key themes, including the chemical composition of the liquids used in electronic cigarettes and their content of harmful substances that may affect the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, in addition to the role of nicotine in causing addiction. It further reviewed the short- and long-term health risks associated with electronic cigarette use, including lung inflammation, respiratory disorders, and their impact on non-smokers.

The workshop witnessed notable engagement from the attendees, with numerous questions and contributions that enriched the discussion and underscored the importance of promoting health awareness within the academic community.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the organizers recommended intensifying awareness programs and strengthening the role of educational institutions in limiting the spread of electronic cigarette use, in order to safeguard public health and foster a safe environmen
