Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim , the Department of Physics, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a workshop entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Education: A Partnership for Academic Excellence” on Monday, 9 March 2026, in the Guest Hall. The workshop was presented by Dr. Alaa Nizar Abdul-Ghaffar and Dr. Sabah Nouri Muzher, and was attended by a number of faculty members, staff, and students.

The workshop aimed to develop digital skills among teachers and students, introduce the most important artificial intelligence tools supporting the educational process, and clarify the differences between traditional education and smart education. It addressed the concept of artificial intelligence as a scientific field concerned with building systems capable of simulating human intelligence, such as learning from data, problem-solving, understanding natural language, and decision-making. The workshop also discussed its fundamental pillars, including neural networks, inferential reasoning, computer vision, natural language processing, and machine learning.

The presenters further discussed the challenges associated with traditional education in contrast to the advantages offered by smart education, such as personalized learning content and immediate feedback that help monitor students’ performance and improve the quality of the educational process. The workshop also highlighted the concept of adaptive learning, which relies on analyzing students’ response patterns and tailoring educational content according to their levels. It concluded with an interactive discussion on the prospects of employing artificial intelligence technologies in university education.
