The University of Baghdad has achieved a new academic milestone in the 2025 Arab University Rankings, securing the 14th position out of 236 participating Arab universities.

At the national level, the University of Baghdad ranked first among Iraqi universities, out of 63 Iraqi universities included in the rankings.

This achievement represents a significant improvement compared to the 2024 results, where the university held the 18th position, marking a rise of four ranks, despite the substantial increase in the number of universities participating in the rankings.

The Arab University Rankings are based on four main criteria:

  • Teaching & Learning: This criterion measures the quality of the educational process, the ratio of faculty members to students, and the academic environment supporting learning.

  • Scientific Research: Focuses on the volume and quality of research output, number of citations, and the impact of research published in reputable international journals.

  • Academic & Employer Reputation: Assesses regional and international recognition of the university by academics and employers, and their confidence in its educational outcomes.

  • Internationalization: Evaluates the percentage of international students and faculty, as well as academic and research collaborations with global universities and institutions.

This advancement reflects the continued efforts of the University of Baghdad to develop academic, research, and institutional performance, enhancing its scientific standing both nationally and across the Arab world.

This achievement also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4, which promotes quality education, and Goal 17, which emphasizes partnerships for achieving the goals.
