Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim , the Career Development and Employment Unit organized a training course entitled Computer Skills Using the Microsoft Package – Level One, held in the Leadership Hall for a duration of three days.
The course was presented by Ms. Salwa Aqeel Mahdi and Ms. Raghad Amer Ali from the College of Science, University of Baghdad.
The course included detailed explanations and hands-on practical training on three of the most important Microsoft Office applications. The first day was dedicated to Microsoft Word, during which participants were introduced to the program’s interface and essential tools such as professional text, paragraph, and table formatting, preparing academic reports, drafting official letters, adjusting margins and spacing, and inserting and formatting images, shapes, and tables.
The second day focused on Microsoft PowerPoint, where students were trained to design professional presentations using built-in templates, add slides, insert images, videos, and illustrative shapes, and apply animations and transitions appropriate for academic presentations, in addition to organizing content to clearly convey ideas during delivery.
The third day provided training on Microsoft Excel, covering spreadsheets, methods of data entry and organization, the use of basic formulas, creating charts, data analysis, and formatting rows and columns, as well as managing large tables in an orderly manner.
The course aimed to enhance students’ proficiency in using essential computer programs, enabling them to acquire technical skills that support the completion of their academic requirements and prepare them for the labor market, where familiarity with such programs is considered one of the most critical competencies.
