Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Science for Women, Dr. Samira Naji Kadhim, the College organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “The Use of Laser in Dermatological Diseases and Cosmetic Applications.” The workshop was held as part of the college’s scientific activities aimed at keeping pace with developments in medical and technological fields and enhancing the academic and knowledge level of students and staff.
The workshop, presented by Assistant Lecturers Fadia Jabbar Alwan and Shahad Dhafer Nasser, introduced laser technology and its mechanism of action, highlighting its major applications in treating various skin conditions such as pigmentation, scars, and common dermatological problems. It also discussed its effective role in non-surgical cosmetic procedures and the positive outcomes achieved when used in accordance with approved medical and scientific standards.
The presenters reviewed the most important guidelines and precautions to be followed before and during the use of laser devices, in addition to explaining the differences between device types and their operating methods depending on skin type and medical condition. They emphasized the necessity of accurate diagnosis and continuous medical follow-up to minimize side effects and ensure optimal therapeutic and cosmetic results.
The workshop concluded with productive scientific discussions and valuable contributions from participants, enriching its themes and underscoring the importance of organizing such scientific events in promoting scientific awareness, linking theoretical knowledge with practical application, and developing expertise in the use of modern technologies, particularly laser technology in dermatology and cosmetic medicine.
