Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Samira Naji Kadhim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry, organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “Methods and Safety of Using Selected Chemical Laboratory Equipment.” The workshop was delivered by Professor Dr. Nasser Diaa Shaalan and Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Younis Abd, as part of scientific activities aimed at promoting laboratory safety culture and developing practical skills among students and staff.
The workshop introduced the most important chemical laboratory equipment, their mechanisms of operation, and proper methods of use according to approved scientific standards. It also explained the preventive measures required to avoid potential accidents and hazards, emphasizing the importance of wearing personal protective equipment and adhering to laboratory safety protocols.
The lecturers reviewed the most common mistakes in handling laboratory equipment and ways to avoid them, stressing the importance of integrating theoretical and practical aspects, as well as the role of continuous training in raising awareness, enhancing safety, and improving laboratory performance.
The workshop concluded with interactive scientific discussions that enriched its themes and highlighted the importance of holding such workshops in developing applied expertise and supporting a safe and well-organized laboratory environment.
