Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Samira Naji Kadhim, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry, organized a scientific workshop entitled “The Importance of Analytical Chemistry.” The workshop was part of the college’s activities aimed at enhancing scientific knowledge and developing academic and research skills.
The workshop was presented by Professor Dr. Saadia Ahmed Dhaher, Lecturer Huraa Mahmoud Abdul Karim, and Assistant Lecturer Mayami Abdulalim Abdulzahra.
The workshop aimed to highlight the vital role of analytical chemistry in various scientific and applied fields, particularly in laboratory analysis, pharmaceutical and food industries, environmental monitoring, and medical diagnostics. It emphasized its importance in ensuring material quality, detecting pollutants, and accurately determining chemical concentrations. The presenters also reviewed the latest techniques and instruments used in this field, their mechanisms of operation, and practical applications, alongside discussing the main challenges facing analytical chemistry and ways to advance it in line with scientific and technological development.
The workshop witnessed active engagement from attendees through scientific questions and discussions, enriching the session and achieving its intended benefits. This workshop aligns with the fourth Sustainable Development Goal: Quality Education, by supporting continuing education and building effective scientific capacities to serve society and promote sustainable development.
