Under the patronage and in the presence of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim , and with the attendance of the Associate Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics, organized an orientation ceremony for first-year students. The event was held on Monday, the first of December of the current year, in the college’s conference hall, with the participation of the department’s faculty members, staff, and students.
The ceremony commenced with a welcoming speech delivered by the Head of the Department, followed by remarks from the faculty members, who provided a brief overview of the significance of the mathematics discipline and its vital role across various fields of pure and applied sciences. They emphasized that graduates of the department enjoy wide-ranging future prospects in both the public and private sectors due to the high demand for this specialization in multiple domains.
The department administration and faculty also stressed that the department’s doors are always open to students, whether regarding academic matters, moral support, or assistance in resolving any challenges they may encounter during their academic journey.
The Associate Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs delivered a speech in which she expressed her pride in the Department of Mathematics, its faculty, and its students, praising the spirit of cooperation and collegiality that contributes to advancing scientific knowledge and supporting efforts aimed at community development.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, attendees viewed an exhibition of handcrafted works prepared by the department’s students, who presented artistic creations that reflected the importance of mathematics across various fields.
