Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad, Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim , the Continuing Education Unit organized a workshop entitled Financial Management Law No. (6) of 2019, presented by Dr. Abbas Hadi Abdul and Ms. Abir Mohammed Abbas.
This law aims to regulate the process of collecting and disbursing public funds according to clear scientific and legal principles, emphasizing the obligation of ministries and governmental bodies to execute procurement and supply operations in accordance with the approved budget plan, while preventing any arbitrary or unauthorized expenditures.
The law also focuses on promoting the principles of transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption by obliging governmental institutions to disclose their financial data and expenditure patterns periodically. This enables the public to monitor the management of public funds and strengthens trust between citizens and state institutions.
The workshop highlighted the importance of raising awareness about the provisions of this law among students and staff, given its critical role in consolidating the concepts of integrity, sound governance, and financial discipline, as well as contributing to the advancement of administrative and financial reform within state institutions.
