A workshop organized by the Scientific Affairs Unit
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Scientific Affairs Unit held a scientific event as part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week program, entitled:
“Employing Artificial Intelligence Algorithms in the Early Detection of Drug Use Based on Medical and Behavioral Data.”
The workshop was presented by Dr. Maytham Kareem Musa, Ms. Suad Ali Ubaid, and Mr. Zaid Sadiq Ni’ma.
The workshop addressed the latest AI-based applications used to analyze medical and behavioral data associated with drug-use phenomena, demonstrating how predictive models can be constructed to identify early indicators that may signal potential addiction.
The workshop further highlighted mechanisms for collecting vital and behavioral data and analyzing them using advanced algorithms capable of detecting abnormal patterns. It also presented applied examples from recent studies that have demonstrated the efficiency of artificial intelligence in monitoring risky behaviors among youth groups.
The event also featured an extensive discussion on the importance of integrating smart technologies into national anti-drug programs, and the role of academic and research institutions in developing innovative solutions that support health and security agencies in early intervention and in limiting the spread of addiction within society.
At the conclusion of the workshop, emphasis was placed on continuing to organize specialized activities that contribute to strengthening students’ scientific and technical awareness. The workshop also commended efforts aimed at developing programs that protect society from the scourge of drugs.
