In conjunction with Pink October, the College of Women’s Sciences organized an awareness workshop on breast cancer Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Women’s Sciences, Prof. Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, and in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, in cooperation with the Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit and the Media and Government Communication Division, held a workshop entitled
“Periodic Screening for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer,” presented by Dr. Shahad Hamed Al-Jawari.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the importance of self-examination and regular breast screening and their role in the early detection of the disease, which increases recovery rates and reduces the risks associated with advanced stages. It also addressed the contributing factors to the disease, methods of prevention, and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle based on proper nutrition and regular physical activity.

The workshop witnessed the attendance of several staff members and students and included discussions and questions that enriched the topic and contributed to enhancing health awareness and a culture of prevention within the university community.

This initiative comes as part of the college’s commitment to supporting national and global efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), through promoting awareness of the importance of prevention and early detection of chronic diseases.
