Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the College’s Women’s Affairs Unit organized a scientific workshop entitled “Applied Statistics and Data Collection Methods” on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in the Hospitality Hall.
The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ scientific knowledge regarding the fundamental concepts of applied statistics and the importance of adopting precise methodologies for data collection and analysis to achieve reliable scientific results. The program included an in-depth explanation of the most prominent statistical tools used in scientific research, highlighting how to select the appropriate statistical method according to the nature of each study.
Additionally, the workshop addressed common errors in designing data collection tools, particularly questionnaires, emphasizing the necessity of adhering to modern scientific standards to ensure data quality and reliability. Practical examples were provided to help researchers avoid such errors and to develop their skills in preparing research instruments and systematically analyzing the resulting data.
At the conclusion of the workshop, a discussion session was opened with attendees, during which a fruitful exchange of ideas and perspectives took place regarding the application of modern statistical methods in scientific research across various fields. This, in turn, contributes to enhancing the research and academic standards of the college and the university.
