Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit organized a workshop entitled “Combating Organized Crime and Drugs and the Role of Society in Addressing Them.” The workshop was presented by the Follow-Up Officer, Mr. Wissam Khalil Ibrahim, in the Al-Riyadah Hall, with the attendance of several faculty members, staff, and students of the college.
The workshop commenced with an explanation of the concept of crime as an abnormal individual behavior that threatens the security and stability of society. It also highlighted the dangers of organized crime, including drug abuse and trafficking, which represent some of its most prevalent contemporary forms. The presenter further addressed the social and economic factors that contribute to the spread of these phenomena, as well as the role of educational, pedagogical, familial, and media institutions in limiting them.
The lecturer emphasized the importance of enhancing community awareness and strengthening cooperation between security agencies and citizens to prevent crime and protect young people from falling victim to addiction.
At the conclusion of the workshop, an interactive discussion took place among the attendees regarding the most effective preventive measures and modern awareness strategies, underscoring the need for collective societal efforts to build a safe and stable environment free from crime and drugs.
