Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Sameera a Naji Khdim, the Department of Biology , in cooperation with the Psychological and Educational Counseling Unit, organized an educational workshop on breast cancer and the importance of early detection. The workshop was presented by Dr. Shaimaa Ismail Kazem, with the attendance of several faculty members, students, and staff of the college.
The workshop provided clarification on the causes of breast cancer and its associated risk factors, emphasizing that early detection is fundamental to increasing recovery rates and reducing the severity of treatment. It also addressed the various methods of early examination, including monthly self-examination and its procedures, as well as the role of medical tests such as mammography, ultrasound, and MRI in detecting tumors at their early stages.
The workshop further discussed the psychological aspects affecting patients and highlighted the importance of psychological support in enhancing treatment response and improving quality of life. The attendees actively engaged through questions and discussions focusing on prevention strategies and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
In conclusion, the workshop stressed the importance of health awareness and early detection and their role in prevention and maintaining the well-being of individuals and society. It also called for adopting a healthy lifestyle that reduces the risk of diseases, particularly breast cancer.
