Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Continuing Education Unit organized a workshop entitled “Combating Extremism Leading to Terrorism and Hate Speech”, presented by the Head of the Government Contracts Unit, Ms.Hanan Mohi Naif.
The workshop aimed to shed light on the causes and motivations that lead to extremism, highlighting its risks to both individuals and society. It also addressed the role of educational institutions in confronting these phenomena by promoting a culture of dialogue, tolerance, and acceptance of others. Additionally, the workshop explored the negative impacts of hate speech on the social fabric and emphasized the necessity of fostering discourse based on love and peaceful coexistence. The discussions underscored the crucial educational and awareness-raising role that universities can play in protecting generations from sliding toward extremist ideologies.
A range of remedial measures was proposed, including the enactment of laws and regulations to curb these phenomena, raising intellectual and behavioral awareness, and fostering collaboration among various state institutions and civil society organizations to combat extremism in all its forms.
This workshop was part of the college’s cultural and awareness initiatives, which aim to instill the principles of moderation and balance among students and affiliated members.
