Thesis Discussion
The College of Science for Women at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis (Evaluation of FBXW7 Protein Levels and Total Fatty Acids in Type 2 Diabetic Patients).
By the student: Haneen Salih Mahdy
The thesis aims to evaluate several biomarkers in the sera of a sample Iraqi patients with type 2 diabetes and prediabetes by estimating the following parameters: FBXW7 protein and total fatty acids. Other parameters, such as fasting blood glucose levels, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and lipid profile levels, were also measured in both the patient and control groups.
The study, which was conducted at the University of Baghdad \ College of Science for Women \ Department of Chemistry and Baghdad Teaching Hospital \ Medical City \ Iraq from December 2023 to March 2024. It included measuring fasting blood glucose levels (FBG), cumulative sugar (HbA1c), and lipid profile levels using spectrophotometric measurement techniques. FBXW7 protein levels and total fatty acids were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) techniques.
The most important recommendations reached by the thesis are:
- Examining the function of FBXW7 protein in the early detection of type 2 diabetes.
- Examining the function of total fatty acids in the early detection of type 2 diabetes.
- Comparing FBXW7 protein levels and total fatty acids in type 2 diabetes patients and prediabetes.
