Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, and in an exceptional academic atmosphere reflecting the culmination of years of study, research, and perseverance, the Scientific Affairs Unit, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a symposium to discuss outstanding graduation projects. The event was held on the morning of Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in the Hospitality Hall, in the presence of the Dean, the Assistant Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs, Dr. Yusra Abdul Sahib, along with the heads of academic departments, faculty members, college staff, and students.The symposium commenced with a welcoming speech delivered by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, in which she praised the students’ efforts in preparing research of a high academic standard. She emphasized that this academic activity is one of the foundational pillars reflecting the quality of education and research at the college and contributes significantly to preparing students for future engagement in research and academic specialization.She also expressed her pride in the scientific caliber of the college’s students and acknowledged the significant role of supervising faculty members in guiding the students and supporting them in producing rigorous research projects.The discussion session featured research projects from various scientific departments, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The topics presented encompassed both applied and theoretical research and addressed contemporary scientific issues of local and global relevance, such as biotechnology applications, water treatment, algorithm design, mathematical modeling, and renewable energy.The research presentations were distinguished by their precision, adherence to scientific methodology, and comprehensive summaries of objectives and findings. The students presented their conclusions with scientifically grounded responses during discussions with a committee composed of specialized faculty from different departments. The committee members commended the scientific level, analytical skills, and presentation abilities demonstrated by the students.At the conclusion of the symposium, the students with distinguished research projects were honored with appreciation awards in recognition of their scholarly efforts and to motivate their peers in subsequent academic years. The college administration also extended its gratitude to the academic and administrative staff who contributed to supporting the students and enhancing their academic and scientific standing.The outcomes of this symposium align with the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which focuses on ensuring quality education, as well as the fifth goal, which emphasizes empowering women and promoting their participation in scientific fields.
