Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Khdim, the Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit, organized a workshop entitled “Protect Your Future: Drug Prevention Begins with Awareness.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Ithar Qusay Hameed, Dr. Tamadur Aref, Dr. Farah Jawad Kadhim, and Ms. Dhekra Abdul Latif. A number of students from the college attended the workshop.
The workshop focused on the importance of awareness regarding the dangers of drugs and their negative impact on students’ mental and psychological health. Through the presentation of valuable information and essential resources, the workshop aimed to empower students to make informed decisions about their lives and avoid the risks associated with drug use.
The speakers emphasized the role of the family and society in drug prevention, and in providing support and assistance to students. The importance of promoting a culture of awareness and prevention among students was also highlighted, along with equipping them with the necessary skills to confront the dangers of drug use.
Moreover, the workshop served as a valuable platform for students to exchange experiences and knowledge regarding the risks of drugs and methods of prevention. Through this initiative, the Department of Mathematics and the Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit strive to raise awareness of important health and psychological issues, and to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to address them.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the participants presented important recommendations that could contribute to strengthening efforts to combat drug abuse and support students. The importance of continuing such activities to enhance drug prevention among students was also affirmed.
