Under the patronage of the esteemed Dean of the College of Science for Women, Professor Dr. Sameera Naji Kazem, the Women’s Affairs Unit, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a workshop titled “Recognizing the Signs of Addiction: A Guide for Mothers and Fathers”. The workshop was presented by family and psychological consultant, Ms. Rasha Hussein Al-Jubouri.

The workshop was attended by faculty members and staff of the college.
Its primary objective was to raise awareness among parents about the signs and symptoms of addiction and how to effectively address them. It emphasized the importance of early detection and the provision of support and assistance to children.

The workshop highlighted various forms of addiction that families may encounter, including substance addiction (drugs and alcohol), behavioral addictions, internet and social media addiction, gaming addiction, food addiction, and even emotional or psychological dependency. It addressed ways to recognize these addictions through interactions with affected individuals.

Preventive strategies were also discussed, particularly the importance of effective communication between parents and children and the pivotal role parents play in prevention. The session stressed the necessity of providing psychological and social support to children and enhancing their self-confidence.

This workshop served as a valuable opportunity for parents to learn how to deal with addiction-related issues and support their children effectively.
It was part of the college’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of addiction and to provide families with essential information and resources to help them recognize and manage signs of addiction in a constructive manner.
