The College of Science for women at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis entitled( Study Levels of Dipeptidyl Peptidase -4, Preptin and Midkine in  Patients with Coronary Artery Disease).

By the student:Saja Taha Yassen.

The thesis aims to evaluate several biomarkers in the sera of a sample Iraqi patients with CAD with and without have T2DM by estimating the following parameters: DPP4, Preptin and midkine  .Other parameters were also measured, such as fasting blood glucose levels, urea, creatinine, and uric acid, as well as lipid profiles in both the patient and control groups.

This study, which was conducted at the University of Baghdad / College of Science for Women / Department of Chemistry and Ibn Al-Bitar Center for Cardiac Surgery ,in Baghdad / Iraq between  August  to December 2023. The levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG), ), urea, creatinine, and uric acid, and lipid profile were measured using the spectrophotometer technique, and the levels of of DPP4, Preptin and midkine were measured using the technique of enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay (ELISA) technique.

The most important recommendations reached by the thesis are:

  1. Examining the function of midkine, preptin, and DPP-4 in heart failure.
  2. Examine the function of midkine, preptin, and DPP-4 in the  sudden cardiac death.
  3. Comparing the DPP-4, Preptin, and midkine levels in coronary artery disease patients before and after cardiac catheterization.
