The master’s thesis, ” Synthesis, Characterization Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Study of SomeNew Hetrocyclice Compounds Derived Acetazolamide ” was the topic of discussion at the College of Science for Girls at the University of Baghdad. Student:Fatima Salam Madhloom
This study aims to prepare new pharmaceutical compounds derived from acetazolamide with biological activity, which can be used as therapeutic compounds in various fields.
This study, which was conducted at the University of Baghdad/College of Science for Girls/Department of Chemistry in the laboratories of the College of Science for Girls in Baghdad, Republic of Iraq, included the preparation of new derivatives of the drug acetazolamide. The prepared compounds were characterized using infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (HNMR). The biological activity of some compounds was studied using different types of bacteria (Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria) and some types of fungi. The antioxidant activity was studied by free radical scavenging using DPPh. The anti-cancer activity was studied on breast cancer cell line using MTT.
The letter makes the following key recommendations:
- Preparation of new derivatives of acetazolamide represented by (Schiff bases, tetrazole, oxazepine, amic, amide, diazanium salt, azo compounds).
- 2. Diagnosis and study of the biological activity of some of the prepared compounds against bacteria, fungi, oxidation and cancer. The student obtained a very good grade.
