College of Science for Women / University of Baghdad examined the dissertation entitled (title of the dissertation) (Molecular and Immunological Detection of Torovirus In Pediatric Stool Samples with Gastroenteritis) of the student (Eman Abdul Rahman Mahmood).

Objectives of the Thesis

. Determine the presence and frequency of ToV in child fecal samples.
To identify molecular analysis of N gene using genetic sequencing.
Examine the immune response by looking for specific antibodies or cytokines associated with the illness.
To understand the evolutionary trends of the virus, examine local isolate along with global data.

Content of the Thesis

Samples Collection: blood and diarrhea from patients with gastroenteritis
Viral RNA extraction
Molecular detection of virus using RT- PCR.
Amplification and sequencing of some virulent gene.
detection of some Immunological parameter in patients with torovirus

Recommendation of the Thesis

Routine Clinical Diagnostics: Incorporating qRT-PCR techniques into routine clinical laboratories for the accurate diagnosis of HToVs in pediatric gastroenteritis cases, particularly focusing on highly vulnerable infants under one year of age, alongside Astrovirus, Adenovirus, Norovirus, and Rotavirus.
Expanded Epidemiological & Genomic Studies: Conducting multicenter, large-scale studies across different Iraqi governorates and investigating potential animal reservoirs to determine the true epidemiological burden, utilizing Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) technologies to better understand genomic diversity.
Advanced Host-Pathogen Research: Performing further immunologic and hematologic investigations to comprehensively clarify the correlation between host immune responses and virus-induced disease severity.
